Longest Day

Longest Day.....
Say, then say, what is this day,
That it lingers thus with half-closed eyes,
When the sunset is quenched and the orient ray
Of the roseate moon doth rise,
Like a midnight sun o'er the skies!
'Tis the longest, the longest of all the glad year,
The longest in life and the fairest in hue,
When day and night, in bridal light,
Mingle their beings beneath the sweet blue,
And bless the balmy air!

Mount Antero

Mount Antero is the tenth highest peak in Colorado, with an elevation of 14,269 feet (4,349 m). It is named for Chief Antero of the Uintah band of Utes. It is located in the central Sawatch Range in Chaffee County between the towns of Buena Vista and Salida. The mountain itself is prized for its gemstone deposits and has one of the highest concentrations of aquamarine in the country. There are several active private mining claims being exploited on Mt. Antero and surrounding peaks.

Mount Princeton

The southern most of the Collegiate Peaks, Mount Princeton 14197 ft / 4327 m, Colorado's 20th highest, dominates the skyline of the Arkansas Valley. This 14,000 foot peak abruptly rises west of Buena Vista and stands all alone in the Sawatch Range. This summit towers between two large U-shaped glacial valleys in which Chalk Creek and Cottonwood Creek drain into the Arkansas River. Mount Princeton is easily attainable from its eastern ridge, but also offers more challenging routes from all slopes. Lacking in technical routes, except for the Chalk Cliffs, the views from this peak won’t disappoint
